The water-permeable rubber mats are made of rubber granules. Liquids/urine are drained through the mats and discharged at the bottom. The concrete, asphalt, or composite paving slab must have a drainage system and a slope of approximately 2–3%. The exception is the SAGUSTU-DK drainage mat without stilts. This can be installed on a compacted, graded gravel substructure. The surface must be free of holes and unevenness. These must be leveled beforehand! Bedding to absorb urine is hardly needed anymore, which also minimizes dust pollution. This creates a better climate in the stable and is a significant advantage for horses with respiratory diseases. Not only do you save a lot of money on bedding, but the amount of work involved in mucking out is also minimized enormously and the volume of manure produced is significantly reduced, which makes disposal much easier. Drainage mats are highly slip-resistant thanks to their open-pored surface, providing a secure footing and making it much easier for horses to get up and down. No more open, sore joints! They also provide heat insulation and protect your horses' joints and hoof mechanism. The elastic rubber mats also reduce the noise level, which ensures more peace and quiet in the stable. The mats should be removed approximately 2-3 times a year and cleaned with a pressure washer. This prevents potential odor buildup and improves the mats' functionality.
Please note:
To prevent the mats from slipping, we recommend securing them to the edges using squared timber or aluminum rails, if there is no wall or similar support.
Rubber can expand when heated, and too little distance from the wall can lead to waviness.
